Bathroom Renovations In Melbourne
A bathroom is the room most likely to fail where you can't see it. We rebuild bathrooms back to frame — new waterproofing certified to AS 3740, new services, and floor falls set properly. Most start at $25,000 and run 4 to 8 weeks.
What a full bathroom renovation involves
We strip the bathroom back to frame. Old linings and fixtures out, plumbing and electrical relocated to suit the new layout, floors levelled and falls set so water goes where it should. Then waterproofing certified to AS 3740, tiling, and fixtures.
Most bathroom failures we're called in to fix are waterproofing failures. It's the part of the job nobody sees, it's the cheapest thing to do badly, and it's the most expensive thing to put right - which is why we don't treat it as a step to move through quickly.
Our bathrooms start at $25,000. If what you're after is regrouting, resurfaced tiling or a vanity swap, we're not the right builder and we'd rather say so now than waste your time.
Is this the first of several?
Most homes we work on have two or more wet areas dating to the same era - a bathroom, an ensuite, a laundry, all installed within a year of each other. They tend to reach the end of their life within a year of each other too.
Doing them as one project costs meaningfully less than three separate ones. You pay for trade mobilisation once, the services work happens once, and you live through one disruption rather than three.

How much does a bathroom renovation cost in Melbourne?
Ours start at $25,000 and most land between $25,000 and $45,000. The variable is whether the layout moves - relocating the toilet or shower means new drainage, which is the single biggest cost swing in a bathroom.
Can I stay in the house during the work?
Generally yes. If it's your only bathroom you'll need to arrange alternatives for four to eight weeks, and we'll be straight with you about that at quoting stage rather than halfway through.
What does waterproofing certified to AS 3740 actually mean?
It's the Australian Standard for waterproofing wet areas. It covers where the membrane goes, how high it runs, and how junctions are treated. It's certified, which means there's a document - ask any builder for it, and be wary of one who hesitates.
Why not just resurface or regrout?
Because if the membrane underneath has failed, resurfacing hides the problem rather than fixing it, and you'll be paying twice. If your bathroom is sound and you want it to look newer, a resurfacing specialist is genuinely the better value - it just isn't what we do.
Do you handle the plumbing and electrical yourselves?
They're done by licensed trades who work with us regularly, coordinated by us, on our schedule. You get one point of contact and one quote rather than chasing three.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes - registered building practitioner with full public liability and domestic building insurance. Our work carries a structural warranty.
