Kitchen Renovations In Melbourne

A kitchen is where a house either works or doesn't. We rebuild kitchens back to frame - new services, new joinery, and structural changes where the layout needs them. Most start at $30,000 and run 6 to 12 weeks.

What a full kitchen renovation involves

We strip the kitchen back to frame. That means removing the old cabinetry and linings, relocating plumbing and electrical to suit the new layout, levelling floors, and rebuilding from there — custom joinery, stone benchtops and integrated appliances. Where the layout calls for a wall to come out, that's
structural work and we treat it as such, with an engineer and steel rather than a hopeful afternoon.

Most kitchens take 6 to 12 weeks on site. The main variable is lead time - stone, custom joinery and imported appliances can add weeks, so we order early and tell you the critical path at the start rather than explaining it later.

Our kitchens start at $30,000. If what you're after is new benchtops, resurfaced cabinetry or a fixture swap, we're not the right builder and we'd rather say so now than waste your time.

Is a new kitchen the actual answer?

If your kitchen is a separate room, cut off from where everyone actually sits, new joinery solves the cabinetry and leaves the layout exactly as it was. In most Melbourne homes built before 1960, the better answer is opening up the rear. We'll price the kitchen on its own and the reconfigured rear, and you can decide with both numbers in front of you.

We needed to remodel the kitchen and shift the laundry into a new location as we outgrew our current kitchen. Dean and the team were extremely professional throughout the whole process. The communication was on point and the result, fantastic. Throughout the whole process we felt informed through honest, clear communication. Can't wait to use Novastri again for future renovation projects.

Dean and his team were fantastic from start to finish. Always clear and transparent, they guided us through every step of our living room and kitchen renovation with confidence. Costs and quotes were fair and straightforward, with no surprises, and the quality of the work was excellent.

They consistently went above and beyond, and Dean was always available whenever we needed anything. During a busy time for our family, their kindness, flexibility and communication made the whole process smooth and stress-free. Couldn’t recommend them more highly.

This is our 3rd project with Dean. Brilliant, professional, amazing communication and timely - we could not have asked for more. Highly recommended. We took all of Deans advice and our home is pure luxury! We are so happy with the final result! I have never known someone who always finishes project on time and we knew what was happening every day. We have never had such a brilliant experience with renovations three times over! Don’t go anywhere else as you will regret it. His fellows trades were excellent too! What a team! Thank you, thank you, thank you Dean.

Common
Questions

How much does a kitchen renovation cost in Melbourne?

Ours start at $30,000 and most land between $30,000 and $60,000. The biggest variable is whether the layout changes - moving plumbing and taking out a wall costs considerably more than replacing joinery in the same footprint.

How long will I be without a kitchen?

6 to 12 weeks on site. We'll set up a temporary sink and bench where the house allows, and we tell you the realistic date rather than the optimistic one.

Can you move the kitchen to a different room?

Yes, and it's often the right call in an older home. It means relocating plumbing, gas and electrical, and sometimes structural work - all of which we price before you commit.

Do you supply the appliances and joinery, or do I?

Either. Most clients have us supply, because it keeps responsibility for lead times and defects in one place. If you want to supply particular pieces yourself that's fine - we'll note them as client-supplied in the quote.

What if you find something behind the old cabinetry?

In a house of any age we usually do - old wiring, water damage, previous work done without permits. We build a contingency into the quote and price any variation for your approval before we do it.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes - registered building practitioner with full public liability and domestic building insurance. Our work carries a structural warranty.

Our Kitchen Renovations

Why Choose Novastri?

Dean and/or Saad are on site throughout - the same senior team from strip-out to
handover, not a project manager and a rotating crew.

We're a registered building practitioner, fully insured, and we work to a fixed
scope with line-by-line costing. You can see what each element costs, which
makes it possible to make real decisions about where to spend.

When something unexpected turns up behind the old cabinetry - and in a house of
any age, it does - we price the variation and get your approval before we do the
work, not after.
